EMAS III certification for sustainable environmental management
For Parador, sustainability is an integral component of the corporate strategy. Among other things, this is reflected in our EMAS III certification for sustainable environmental management, which has been in place since 2015.
In the environmental statement, which is mandatory under EMAS, we provide our partners and the public with reliable information about our objectives, measures and key figures. This includes climate protection and energy management, resource efficiency, and environmentally friendly production, environmentally sound procurement, as well as ecologically and socially sustainable economic activities.
The community system for the voluntary eco-management and audit system (EMAS) is an organisation developed by the European Union in 1993 for companies wishing to improve their environmental performance. The international environmental management standard DIN EN ISO 14001 is a central component of EMAS III, but other measures are also required. The requirements and components of EMAS include the involvement of all the company's employees, transparent and sustainable communication with the public, continuous improvement of a company's own environmental performance and compliance with applicable legislation.

For a successful audit, several process steps must be carried out in the course of EMAS. For example, we have drawn up an environmental policy and an environmental programme with concrete objectives, with the involvement of employees. To implement our environmental policy and goals, we have also developed a dedicated environmental management system. A full internal environmental audit regularly reviews whether the set goals are being achieved. An independent, state-approved environmental expert then validates the requirements for the EMAS directive. The results are published annually in our environmental report.
This trademark is awarded to products that meet the requirements of the certification system for the documentation and improvement of sustainable forest management with regards to economic, ecological and social standards. The content of the certification system is based on international resolutions that were passed by 37 nations in the pan-European process during the Ministerial Conference for the Protection of Forests in Europe (Helsinki, Lisbon 1998).
The CE marking is obligatory according to EU law in connection with product safety. It is not a seal of approval (quality mark). The abbreviation "CE" stands for Communauté Européenne (French for "European Community"). The CE marking is frequently called a "passport" for the internal European market. The manufacturer or distributor confirms the conformity of the product with the applicable EU Construction Products Regulation (BauPVO) 305/2011 (since 01 July 2013) and compliance with the "essential requirements" specified there via a declaration of performance (DOP). Since 01 July 2007, the CE marking pursuant to EN 14041 is obligatory for “resilient, textile flooring and laminate flooring".
